Refurbishment of the Divi Blasii Church under preservational aspects

In 1227, the protestant parish church Divi Blasii was mentioned in documents for the first time. The church was constructed as a three-nave, cross-rib-arched hall church with transept and three-nave choir. The young Johann Sebastian Bach worked here as organist and composer from 1706 – 1707.

Divi Blasii church’s history and the special works of art, including the mediaeval glass paintings (one of the most valuable compact glass painting cycle of the Middle Ages in Central Europe) document the outstanding value of German architecture.

Safeguard and restoration works will be carried out until 2006. During the first building construction stage the southern nave and window rosette were secured. The "Bauzier" were secured and worked over under restoration aspects before relocation.
